Description
Coloncito is the capital of the Panamericano municipality, in the southwest of Táchira state, a warm-climate town that grew at the pace of the region's farming and ranching activity. Its name comes from the estate founded in the early 20th century by Mercedes Contreras de Chacón, who named it in honor of her place of origin; over time, Coloncito became the municipal capital in 1972. Located along the Pan-American Highway corridor, this destination has always been a strategic point of transit and connection between Táchira and the rest of western Venezuela.
