Lobatera
Lobatera, Táchira, Venezuela
Description
Lobatera is the capital of the municipality of the same name, in Táchira state, and one of the four oldest municipalities in the region, an honor represented by one of the four stars on the official Táchira flag. Set in a rugged Andean valley at about 968 meters above sea level, where the Lobatera and La Molina streams meet, this town holds deep historical and cultural value. Its antiquity, mountainous surroundings and the warmth of its people make Lobatera a point of reference and connection within Táchira's Andean tradition.
The Lobatera municipality has an area of 252 km² and, according to estimates by the National Institute of Statistics, its population in 2023 was approximately 11,158 inhabitants (INE, "Population Estimates", accessed 2026). It is made up of the Lobatera and Constitución parishes, and its economy is linked to the agricultural and community activities typical of its entirely mountainous geography (Wikipedia, "Municipio Lobatera", accessed 2026).
