On the outskirts of San Cristóbal, between mountains and devotion, Táriba preserves one of the oldest religious traditions in Venezuela. Founded in 1602 at about 882 meters of altitude, its name is forever tied to the veneration of the Virgin of la Consolación de Táriba, considered the oldest in the country, linked to the Augustinian friars who arrived in the early years of the colony. Capital of the Cárdenas municipality and practically integrated into the San Cristóbal metropolitan area, Táriba is a spiritual and everyday connection point at the heart of the Táchira Andes.
