Sabana Mendoza, also known as Sabana de Mendoza, is the capital of the Sucre municipality, in the warm lowlands of Trujillo state, in the region popularly called Mendoza Caliente. The town owes its name and its formation to the landowner don Ildefonso Mendoza, who gathered the first neighbors there, and to don Laureano Silva, who ceded his lands so the town could grow. Lively and commercial in character, Sabana Mendoza has established itself as an important hub of activity and a connection point between the Trujillo plain and the rest of the state.
