Los Guayos
Los Guayos, Carabobo, Venezuela
Description
Los Guayos is one of those places in Carabobo where colonial history and the pulse of modern life coexist every day. Its roots go back to the late 17th century, when the settlement was recognized as a town and, in 1710, raised to an ecclesiastical parish; over time it became part of the great urban fabric of Valencia until it turned into an autonomous municipality in 1994. Today Los Guayos is a hardworking, close-knit community, with a character forged between the agricultural tradition of old and its current role as a connection point within the urban axis of central Venezuela, where thousands of families build their lives each day.
Los Guayos spreads over some 73 km² in the eastern part of Carabobo state and, according to the 2011 national census, its municipality gathered around 149,606 inhabitants, placing it among the most populated localities of the Valencia metropolitan area. Its economy combines commerce, services and the industrial activity typical of a zone fully integrated into Carabobo's urban development (Wikipedia, «Municipio Los Guayos», accessed 2026).
That closeness to Valencia keeps Los Guayos in constant movement and exchange with the rest of the country.
