Palma Sola is a coastal town with a seafaring flavor in the north of Carabobo state, within the Juan José Mora municipality, facing the waters of the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's central coast. Its name became tied to the nation's history when, on July 24, 1859, General Juan Crisóstomo Falcón landed on its shores accompanied by a group of men, in a remembered episode of the Venezuelan struggle. Today Palma Sola lives off the sea: artisanal fishing is the heart of its economy, and every Resurrection Sunday it celebrates the traditional Blessing of the Sea on its beach, a festival that gathers thousands of visitors. That character of a fishing town and its location facing the Caribbean make Palma Sola a meeting point between coastal tradition and the rest of the Carabobo region.
