Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela
Description
Valencia is a city that breathes history and industry in equal measure. Founded on March 25, 1555 by Alonso Díaz Moreno as Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación de Nueva Valencia del Rey, it was three times the capital of Venezuela and keeps nearby the battlefield of Carabobo, where independence was sealed on June 24, 1821. Capital of Carabobo state and the heart of a large metropolitan area, Valencia is the third most populous city in the country and a natural communications hub of the north-central region. Known as the Industrial Capital of Venezuela, it combines its economic weight with a strong sense of identity and an intense urban life.
According to the 2011 census, Valencia had 1,484,430 inhabitants in the city and nearly 1,996,173 in its metropolitan area, with projections exceeding two million people by 2023. Its concentration of industrial zones and multinational companies spans sectors as diverse as textiles, metalworking, automotive, food, healthcare and financial services, consolidating it as one of Venezuela's main economic engines (Wikipedia, «Valencia (Venezuela)», accessed 2026).
