Charallave
Charallave, Miranda, Venezuela
Description
Charallave is a city with colonial roots and a thriving atmosphere, capital of the Cristóbal Rojas municipality in Miranda state. Founded in 1681 under the name Santa Rosa de Lima de Charallave, it is part of the Valles del Tuy urban cluster, alongside towns such as Cúa, Ocumare del Tuy, and Santa Teresa del Tuy. Its growth, driven by its proximity to Caracas and by the development of the railway, has made Charallave an important residential and industrial connection point within the Tuy region.
The Cristóbal Rojas municipality, whose capital is Charallave, has a surface area of about 120 km² and an estimated population of around 157,409 people (Wikipedia, "Municipio Cristóbal Rojas", accessed 2026). Its economy rests above all on industrial and agricultural activity, complemented by commerce and services that grow at the pace of its population.
