Description
San Vicente is one of the most distinctive areas of Aragua state, located southwest of Maracay, within the Los Tacarigua parish of the Girardot municipality. Its name comes from an old cattle ranch called San Vicente that existed in the time of Juan Vicente Gómez, when these lands were livestock areas, which speaks to its rural roots and its evolution into a fully urban district. Today San Vicente brings together numerous communities —such as San Vicente Centro, La Isabelita, El Viñedo and La Vaquera— and has consolidated itself as a vibrant connection point within the daily dynamics of Maracay.
San Vicente is part of the Los Tacarigua parish, one of the most populated in Maracay, with around 65,000 inhabitants according to local estimates (Alcaldía de Girardot, «Información del Municipio», accessed 2026).
